Funeral & Memorial

Funerals, memorials, and celebrations of life offer more than an opportunity to honor a person, bring people together, and create a meaningful way to remember them. They are also a time for sharing, healing, and grieving. When we are denied this important gathering, or the process of grieving is interrupted, heartache can compound and deepen rather than resolve.

For families with religious traditions, many funeral planning decisions are familiar, but the importance lies in honoring the specialness of the person who has died. For others, planning may involve exploring newer options such as green burial or a celebration of life. Whether you want something more personal but are unsure where to begin, or have questions about how a celebration of life differs from a quiet memorial, there is a lot to consider. From locations, music, readings, and rituals to speakers, personal objects, and ways for family and friends to participate, a ceremony can provide an opportunity for gathering and healing, tailored to honor a life well lived.

When the Ashes Have Been Waiting

An estimated 2.5 million homes across the United States have urns in them. Too many are forgotten, left behind when homes are sold, found in thrift stores, or discarded without ceremony. These are rarely our intentions, but many urns never receive a final resting place.

If you have ashes at home, there are many ways to plan a memorial, burial, or scattering, even if decades have passed. It is not too late to create a meaningful tribute and say a final remembrance.

Please visit the Ashes page for more information.
