As a funeral celebrant, I work with families to create ceremonies that honor their loved one and reflect their life, values, relationships, and experiences. I begin by meeting with family members to hear the stories, memories, and details that will shape the ceremony and the tribute.

Crafting a eulogy can be particularly difficult during a time of grief. Even the best public speakers may struggle to find the right words. Searching for poetry, choosing music, and making all the necessary decisions can feel overwhelming in the days following a loss. It can also be difficult to decide who you would like to speak, as well as who may not be the right fit. Having someone outside the intimate circle can help. I can listen, provide feedback, and help you work through the decisions.

After our initial meeting, I take the time to write a eulogy based on the stories and memories shared with me. The goal is to create a tribute that reflects the person and the impact they had on the people around them.

Having a family member or close friend deliver the eulogy can be one of the most important parts of the service. As a celebrant, my role is to help tell your loved one's story, not to take center stage. I serve the family and friends who are honoring their loved one, and that may take many forms.

I also help with readings, music, rituals, and the other elements that make up a ceremony. Every family makes different choices, and not every service needs to follow the same format. The ceremony should feel appropriate for the person being honored and for the people who are there to remember them.

In addition to full ceremonies, I offer graveside services and completed eulogies for private ceremonies. Smaller gatherings can be just as meaningful as larger services.

Services honoring children are offered as a gift. Services honoring veterans and military service members are available at a reduced rate in recognition of their service.
